What is Criminology?

Centre of Criminology: Africa Focused. Globally Engaged.

Criminology is the study of what crime is, how it is measured, how and why it manifests, its social impact and the way in which we attempt to control it, causes, interpretations and the methods we engage with to prevent or respond to it. The history of Criminology spans over 250 years, and incorporates understandings from fields such as Law, Anthropology, Sociology, Biology, Statistics and Economics, Politics and Psychology.
