Overview

Multi-media Electronic Resource Library (MERL): A digital library of resources

MERL is the communications hub and the infrastructural backbone of the Centre of Criminology's research programmes. MERL electronic resources provide access to a wide range of criminological and regulatory information, particularly within the security arena.

MERL's physical facilities include a fully computerised and friendly study area and include an electronically well equipped seminar area for lectures, meetings and collaborative work. This also functions as an area for video recording. Among the physical spaces is an outside patio area where meetings and discussions are held. In collaboration with UCT's VULA and other related databases MERL facilitates learning and research. MERL's online data base can be accessed by accredited persons both scholars, students and policy analysts and practitioners both locally and internationally.
